Tinderbox Vineyard, a stone’s throw from the shores of the d’Entrecasteaux Channel and Southern Ocean.
Overlooks Bruny Island, Storm Bay and the Iron Pot Lighthouse. Breathtaking.
The Riesling comes from just 8 rows on the top block of the vineyard, from a localized outcrop of vesicular basalt (as opposed to Triassic sandstone elsewhere in the vineyard).
Whole-bunch pressed, settled for 24hrs, racked to tank for wild ferment at ambient temperatures.
A long and slow ferment, tasted daily, coming into a zone of balance as a drier style this year.
Citrus, mineral, intense, linear, juicy, fresh. A great match for seafood (sashimi!).
Less than 250 bottles made. 11.5% a/v
